Welcome to the Makin’Waves Selkirk Rex webpage!

For general information on the sweet, curly-coated cat breed called Selkirk Rex see The International Cat Association (TICA) breed description (link opens page for Selkirk Rex Shorthairs, there is also a separate page for the Longhairs).

RW OS SGC Lamancha Kokomo of MakinWaves, aka “Momo” (retired) see Momo’s page

MakinWaves Selkirk Rex basically centers around RW OS SGC Lamancha Kokomo of MakinWaves, aka “Momo”, his girlfriends and offspring. Momo is now retired from breeding (neutered) and living a lazy life with me, one of his daughters (Lacey) and my old Bengal girl, Luna.

Makinwaves Chantilly Lace, aka “Lacey”

Lacey is a daughter of Momo and Baby, from the litter born at my house, Jan 2016. She is a straight-hair Selkirk, meaning she did not inherit the curly hair gene. Genetically she is a black silver spotted torbie (tabby with red), and white. She’s not eligible to show in championship class but I may show her once in awhile in the HHP (household pet) category at TICA shows. But she basically is just a companion for Momo and me, when she’s not taunting him.

Violet is also a daughter out of Momo and Baby, born in the litter at my house. She is a curly  lilac torbie (meaning tabby with red) Selkirk. She currently lives with my friend Susan Senser who plans to show her a bit and make some curly babies.

Baby came to live with me for about a year and produced an amazing litter with Momo before she went back to her breeder Lucy Robinson again bred to Momo where she had a second amazing litter. See the gallery page for photos of some of the gorgeous offspring these two wonderful Selkirk produced. These litters contributed to making Momo TICA’s first Selkirk Outstanding Sire and Baby the first Selkirk Outstanding Dam.

GC Goldcharm (MakinWaves) TeddyBear of Winterfell/Catequil (retired)

Goldcharm/Makinwaves Teddy of Catequil

Teddy is owned and shown in alter class by Angie Aarhus in ACFA. Teddy was from my first litter of Selkirk (first of a grand total of two!), out of CH Curlybears Sassique. He is simply stunning. I loved his gorgeous cream curls but knew I didn’t have the patience to groom a longhair coat and Teddy went to old friend Lynn Landers Dickinson for a few litters before he retired and went to her friend Angie.

 (AZFancyFace) Katalina of Makinwaves

Sassique was my second Selkirk girl and the first I had kittens with. She came from long-time CFA Selkirk breeder and friend Bobbie Squires and she and Momo had a really wonderful litter (including Teddy). Sassique is retired and living a spoiled life with Susan E. in San Diego.
